Star And Buc Wild Leave Pulse 87 (New York City)

After returning to New York radio in January, Troi "Star" Torain and Timothy "Buc Wild" Joseph are making yet another departure from radio. The duo left 87.7 WNYZ Pulse 87, the most listened to dance music station in the country, on an optimistic note earlier this week.

"I'm proud of my role in the launch of Pulse 87 and I leave with a new found respect for the dance music culture," Star said in a statement.
The departure of Star and Buc Wild was a joint decision, with the programming director of Pulse 87 wanting to maintain its "stationality" for its listeners.
"We are grateful for the opportunity to have worked with Troi Torain [Star] and his team," Alex Shvarts, Mega Media Group CEO said in a statement. "He was a big part of the launch of Pulse 87. Star is a world class talent and we wish him the best in his future endeavors."

In similar news, Power 105.1, the New York radio station Star was fired from in 2006 [click to read] announced last week that former 106 And Park host Free would be joining the Ed Lover Morning Show.

"I have always wanted to be on New York radio and I'm thankful for the opportunity to wake up listeners on the Ed Lover Show," Free said. "I look forward to joining Ed daily and being the voice of news and entertainment for all listeners in the Tri-State area on-air and online."

The Ed Lover Morning Show airs Monday through Friday from 6 a.m. to 10 a.m.

Diddy And Sean John Acquire Enyce From Liz Claiborne

It was announced late today that Diddy and his Sean John clothing company have acquired the Enyce brand from Liz Claiborne. The 12 year-old brand began as a denim line, before being bought out by the publicly-traded Claiborne company five years ago.

“Enyce is a brand that I have always admired, and they have been a very important player in the young men’s sportswear arena for over a decade. I am really excited to bring it into our portfolio of brands that already includes Sean John and Zac Posen. Given our track record of success in marketing products such as Ciroc Vodka, Unforgivable by Sean John, and all of our television titles, I look forward to adding our expertise to an already hot fashion line. Our long-term plan is to grow the Enyce brand through innovative marketing, expansion of the menswear and boy’s lines, and launching into new licensing categories. The current economic climate may be challenging, but we believe it is also an opportunity, and we are really excited to add Enyce to our lineup," said Diddy in a statement.

Both companies are reportedly working for a smooth transition for retailers and Enyce employees. The amount purchased for the company was not disclosed

Young Buck Talks Album, Promises A Milli In First Week

Although some people may be counting Young Buck out of the game due to his less-than-amicable split from G-Unit [click to read], the Cashville rapper isn't phased.

"The name of my record is The Rehab," he told MTV News in Atlanta. "Straight up, that's where I been at."

Buck added that he and the Outlawz are planning to put out their separate projects around the same time. "You can expect for their album at the top of the year," he said. "Hopefully it comes January, no later than February.

"Regardless of whatever you may hear, whatever dealing with Buck, what you see is what you get. Honestly, to be real, 50 [Cent] made the statement to the world that 'Buck is no longer a part of G-Unit, but he's still an artist on the label,' so whenever I guess he gets over his situation and figures out his album, I guess we'll come to terms and figure out a release date on my album. Until then, I ain't stoppin'. That's why I'm going so hard with the mixtapes. I'm everywhere. Hopefully, we'll get a release on my album in January or February."

Buck's goal with the album? To sell a million in a week. But Buck indicated that if 50 is willing to negotiate, he has prospects ready to buy him out of his contract.
"I'm trying to get totally away from the whole G-Unit situation, period," he said. "If I can directly deal with Interscope, so be it. I only got two albums left anyway. So at this point, all I'm trying to do is fulfill what I got left with homeboy and move on. It's already understood that the relationship with me and G-Unit will never be the same, so you don't ever have to look forward to seeing me back with G-Unit. That's not my thing. I'm staying down with the streets, and the streets are staying down with me."

MF DOOM Addresses Rumors Of Fake Performances

Though heralded as one of Hip Hop’s most acclaimed artists, MF DOOM has been a mystery behind the mask. In recent times, it has gotten to the point that fans are questioning the validity of DOOM shows, unsure if the man on stage is in fact the real MF DOOM. Speaking in the recent issue of Wax Poetics magazine, DOOM confronted the question of impostor performances, vying for a new perception. Putting his explanation into context, MF DOOM recapped a show from last year.

"I did some show, wrecked it, girls climbing up onstage and shit," recounts DOOM. "That was the first time that happened--but we was rocking, right? Somebody from the label was going to be there. I was like, 'Cool, he saw the show, and it was wrecked.'" Continuing on DOOM stated, "Next couple of days, I speak to him, and he was like, 'Good show, but a lot of people are saying it wasn't you!'"

Receiving the disconcerting news, DOOM was amazed to hear his character continues to fool people. "I lost fifty-nine pounds last year on some healthy shit, and I'm out there busting my ass, and niggas is still saying that shit? Niggas is caught up in the character part."

However, instead of killing off the impostor noise, MF DOOM stressed his shows are for the music, first and foremost. "Looking at it has nothing to do with what it sounds like," says DOOM. "A blind person could be at the show and feel it clearly, but don't see nothing of it. Don't matter what the shit look like. Look, was niggas rockin' or was niggas rockin'?"

For the full interview with MF DOOM, be sure to pick up the newest Wax Poetics, on sale now.

He is one of today’s last pupils of the golden era who has taken on the torch to represent real Hip Hop. The Fat Boys Return With New Album, TV Show

Legendary '80s rap group The Fat Boys have returned, after over 15 years apart. Although member Buffy passed away in 1995, other founding members Prince Markie Dee and Kool Rock-Ski announced in a press release, posted at MVRemix, that they have reunion underway.

“I’m weighing in at 185 these days, people are encouraged and motivated to see a slim and trim Fat Boy,” said Kool Rock-Ski.
The group would not confirm an exact date of release or title, they did say that a reality show may be in the works.

The last Fat Boys album was 1991's Mack Daddy, after a career that spawned hits such as "Fat Boys," "Can You Feel It," and "Wipeout."

T.I. Likely To Debut At Number One With Paper Trail

When Nielsen SoundScan releases the weekly sales report, T.I.'s Paper Trail [click to read] will likely occupy the number one spot. Nielsen's Building chart, shows Tip's sixth solo effort at 357,000 units sold through the close of business Friday (Oct. 3). After selling such a significant amount of copies after only being available for three days, Paper Trail will likely compete with Lil Wayne's Tha Carter III for the highest-selling Rap/Hip Hop album of the year.

According to Billboard magazine, Nielsen SoundScan's Building chart is comprised by retailers which account for 80% of all domestic album sales. Trans World Entertainment, Best Buy, Circuit City, iTunes, Starbucks, Borders, Target, Anderson Merchandisers and Handleman Co. all send their sales figures to the Building chart.

All indications were that Paper Trail would chart well, since the single "Whatever You Like" is currently capping an eight-week stay on the Billboard Hot 100 by occupying the top spot. Should Paper Trail debut at number one it will be the third consecutive time T.I. has released a chart-topping album. In 2006 King had first-week sales of 522,000, while T.I. Vs. T.I.P. debuted in 2007 with 468,000 copies sold.

Lil Wayne Already Working On "Tha Carter IV," Other Projects

After selling over 2.5 million copies of his highly anticipated Tha Carter III, Lil Wayne is already in the studio working on Tha Carter IV, in addition to a new mixtape.

The mixtape, Dedication 3, will be an addition to DJ Drama's Gangsta Grillz series which "you can expect real soon," Wayne said on his ESPN.com blog.
Wayne added that after Dedication 3 comes out, he will be re-releasing it "with 20 extra songs for free on my Web site."

It doesn't stop there, as Lil Wayne is collaborating with T-Pain for an album titled T-Wayne, to be released in 2009. "We've got three or four songs we've finished," said T-Pain to Billboard.com. "They don't really have titles. We're just doing music and however it comes out, it comes out."

Although Tha Carter IV doesn't have a release date attached to it, fans will be happy to know that Wayne is already in the studio, working on the album.
